Novos Under 13 v Berwick Under 13
Berwick travelled to Novos for their last away fixture of season again played in ideal conditions on a glorious Sunday morning.
From the KO it was apparent that Novos were going to attack hard and took the game right up to Berwick’s 22 very quickly and with some sustained pressure found the way over for the first try. This really got Berwick’s dander up and the next passages of play saw some excellent rucking from Berwick forwards and backs linking well to keep possession but we were struggling to get over gain line eventually some direct running from Thomas Warcup and the centres took us up to Novos danger area and once the forwards had secured clean ball at Ruck it allowed Rory Hindhaugh to make a break down the Blindside and feed to the supporting Ross Hindmarsh to take the score.
Berwick then hungry for more attacked hard again keeping the tempo up to compete well at breakdown for quality ball and this allowed full back Elliott Gray to burst through the line and score again.
In the second half Novos came at Berwick hard again from KO and worked hard to draw scores level to lead to a tense finish. Berwick again worked hard defending valiantly they patiently worked the way back up the pitch pressuring Novos hard to turn ball over or force errors. Deep in to the second half a penalty was awarded and some quick thinking from man of the match Rory Hindhaugh saw him catch the Novos defence on the retreat and a sniping run saw him touch down which he converted to secure the win 10-17. This was a competitive game of rugby from both sides with Berwick showing good composure to secure good possession to release the ever dangerous back line.
