Bicester went into their next OBB League match with high expectations against a weakened Oxford Harlequins team who could only muster 14 players. Despite some wrong options taken early on Bicester settled to run in 9 unanswered tries for another convincing and comfortable win.
Bicester started the game slowly and were uncharacteristically disjointed as a team, however they soon realised that if they passed the ball along the line to the wide men we could score lots of tries. The forwards produced excellent scrummaging and line-out play winning a lot of opposition ball and creating turnovers. Whilst Quins put up some strong opposition where they tackled well and looked to pass the ball they ultimately could not stay the pace against this determined Bicester side.
Bicester’s backs took some time to gel with early possession kicked away needlessly and final passes not being made. However they came good and eventually moved the ball nicely along the line scoring all 9 tries at regular intervals. Lewis bagged 4 tries and there were 1 apiece for Jimmy, Christian, Dan W, Rhys and Sam with Dan W converting 3.
Not a classic Bicester performance but ultimately satisfying and no points conceded as we go into the Christmas break. Man of the Match: The entire front row (Ed, Oscar, Callum) for leading from the front and giving the platform to work from. Squad of: Ed, Oscar, Callum, Ashley, Jonny, Joey, Harrison, Adam, Dan B, Cameron, Christian, Dan W, Sam, Lewis, Jimmy, George, Rhys, Laith, and Ieuan.
