Bideford are back on the road this Saturday as they head up the M5 to take on Bristol Manor Farm in Division One South. It’s a big game for both sides who find themselves sitting near the foot of the table level on 12 points, four points above bottom club Brixham.

Bideford come into the fixture off the back of three consecutive defeats, all to clubs in the top six in Portishead, Frome and Winchester. The Robins have also only scored once in their last four outings, which highlights their main issue this season. Scott Robinson is Bideford’s top scorer so far this campaign with six, followed by Javan Wright with five.

Bristol Manor Farm have only won one of their last eight games, a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Falmouth. Their last win prior to that was another impressive one, a 5-3 success at Malvern in mid-September. Farm’s form has picked up of late though with the aforementioned win over Falmouth and two draws against Melksham and Mousehole. Last time out they were beaten by high-flying Bishop’s Cleeve at Kayte Lane. Manor Farm now face three Devon sides in a row beginning with Bideford before taking on fellow strugglers Tavistock and Brixham all from which they will be targeting for much needed points.

Last season Bideford were victorious at the Creek 3-2, while the game at the Sports Ground ended in a 1-1 draw.

A Brief History of Bristol Manor Farm FC
Founded in 1960, Bristol Manor Farm began playing in the Somerset County League after securing a permanent home at The Creek in 1965. After progressing through the divisions, Manor Farm joined Western League Division One in 1977. Following five top ten finishes Bristol Manor Farm won the Division One title in 1982/83 and were promoted to the Premier Division where they would remain for the next 19 years. After being relegated in 2001/02, The Farm were promoted back to the Premier in 2003/04. They narrowly avoided relegation finishing 18th in 2012/13 but from there they never looked back with finishes of 2nd, 4th, 3rd and finally becoming Western League champions in 2016/17. In 2017/18 Farm finished a very respectable 9th in their first season in the Southern League while in 2018/19 they ended up in 15th place. In the 2019/20 season they also finished the campaign in 15th place when the season was abandoned due to the coronavirus pandemic and a season later were 11th when play was stopped once again. In 2021/22 Manor Farm finished in 5th position but were beaten in the play-off final by Winchester City. The 2022/23 season saw Farm finish 18th which meant they had to play in an inter-step playoff against Saltash United of the Western League. Thankfully for Manor Farm, they won the game 2-0 to preserve their Southern League status. In 2023/24 they improved massively to finish 4th but were beaten by Frome Town in the play-off final. Last season they finished in 12th place.
