Southern League Division One South
Saturday 15th November 2025
3:00pm kick off
The Persimmon Homes Sports Ground, Bideford
Bideford are back in action at the Persimmon Homes Sports Ground on Saturday as
Swindon Supermarine are the visitors in Division One South.
The Robins are in a poor run of form with no wins in their last six games in all
competitions. Their run of four defeats did at least come to an end on Tuesday night
with a point against fellow strugglers Brixham. They remain just inside the bottom
four on goal difference below Bashley on 13 points from 15 games.
Supermarine, who came down from the Premier Division last season, are currently
11 th with 20 points from 15 games so far. Their form has been dipped a bit of late with
defeats to Larkhall and Mousehole either side of a penalty shootout loss to Bradford
Town in the Wiltshire Premier Shield. Marine did bounce back on Monday night
though with a 2-0 away win at Melksham.
Bideford and Supermarine have already met once this season in Swindon in the FA
Trophy. The game ended in a 1-1 draw with Bideford progressing thanks to a 5-4
penalty shootout victory. The last meeting at the Sports Ground was back in August 2017 when Supermarine won by a single goal to nil.

A Brief History of Swindon Supermarine FC
Swindon Supermarine were formed in 1992 as a merger between Swindon Athletic and Supermarine FC. Supermarine FC were established in 1946 and Swindon Athletic in 1968. Swindon Supermarine took Athletic's place in the Hellenic League Premier Division and in 1997/98 they were crowned Hellenic League Champions but were not promoted due to ground requirements. They were champions once again in 2000/01 and this time were promoted to the Southern League Western Division. Supermarine struggled near the bottom of the division for the next four seasons but in 2005/06 they finished 5th. Qualifying for the play-offs they were beaten in the semi final by Hemel Hempstead. A season later they went one better and finished fourth. This time they were successful in the play-offs beating Burnham and Taunton to be promoted to the Southern League Premier Division. After five seasons in the Premier Division they were relegated to Division One South & West in 2011/12. They spent six seasons back at Step 5 and were play-off contenders in all but one of those campaigns. In 2017/18 Supermarine were promoted back to the Premier Division after beating Wimborne Town on penalties in the play-off final, and what followed was a series of mid-table finishes over the next few years. However, in 2024/25 Supermarine were relegated back to Division One South after finishing in 20th place.
