Bideford ended their four game losing streak but had to settle for a point at home to fellow strugglers Brixham on Tuesday night.
Played on a heavy pitch at the Persimmon Homes Sports Ground, both sides looked well short of confidence but Brixham will have been the much happier of the two with the point gained.
Bideford led through a sublime Scott Robinson goal against his former club before Charlie Johansen equalised for the Fishermen.
The away side had the first opening of the game as Aaron Wellington beat the offside trap to race away but elected to square rather than shoot which allowed the Robins to clear their lines.
Finn Roberts and Archie Reay both saw shots comfortably saved before Alex Moyse snatched at a chance when he had more time than he realised.
Robinson and Roberts both sent great balls across the face of goal that Mattie Buchan was unable to latch onto and Dan Gillard made a good save to push away a Moyse strike destined for the bottom corner.
Leo McCormick made an equally good save early in the second half low down to his right from Johansen before Bideford took the lead in some style.
Robinson got away down the left hand side thanks to a forward ball from Reay. The Robins number nine cut inside onto his left foot a curled a beautiful strike into the far corner with Gillard at full strength unable to stop it.
Bideford came looking for a second with Harvey Field standing up an excellent cross to the back post that Callum Rose did well to defend and from the resulting corner, Louie Slough glanced a header wide of the post.
Brixham still looked dangerous on the counter though. Johansen saw a shot blocked crucially by Henry Richards on the hour but made no mistake from his next opening. Bideford were caught out by a through ball down the middle and Johansen raced cleared to beat McCormick at the second attempt.
The Robins’ big chance to win the game came on 76 mins as Javan Wright’s well directed cross was met at the back post by Reay but he was unable to keep his header down from close range.
Brixham were reduced to 10 men a minute later as Johansen was sent off for something said to the referee, however Bideford were unable to break through the away side’s stubborn defence and the points were shared.
