Bideford will renew acquaintances with Bristol Manor Farm on Saturday with both clubs in need of a victory in order to ease their relegation fears as things really begin to tighten up at the bottom of Division One South.

The sides have identical records after 31 games, with Manor Farm one place higher in 15th on goal difference. Farm have just one win in their last 11 games, a 3-1 success against Melksham last month, which was followed by a creditable point against Bishop’s Cleeve. Last time out they suffered a narrow defeat at Falmouth by a goal to nil.

Bideford are without a win in four games, which has seen their eight point cushion above the relegation zone reduced down to just three. A superb late comeback from 4-1 down at Falmouth earned them a point, but a trip to runaway leaders Frome last Saturday ended in a 4-0 defeat and has the Robins looking nervously over their shoulder.

The previous meeting between the sides back in November ended in a 2-0 win for Manor Farm, a scoreline which flattered Bideford, such was the Bristol side’s dominance on the day. The Robins will looking to put things right at the Sports Ground this weekend, in what will be a classic six-pointer and a massive game for both clubs.

A Brief History of Bristol Manor Farm FC
Founded in 1960, Bristol Manor Farm began playing in the Somerset County League after securing a permanent home at The Creek in 1965. After progressing through the divisions, Manor Farm joined Western League Division One in 1977. Following five top ten finishes Bristol Manor Farm won the Division One title in 1982/83 and were promoted to the Premier Division where they would remain for the next 19 years. After being relegated in 2001/02, The Farm were promoted back to the Premier in 2003/04. They narrowly avoided relegation finishing 18th in 2012/13 but from there they never looked back with finishes of 2nd, 4th, 3rd and finally becoming Western League champions in 2016/17. In 2017/18 Farm finished a very respectable 9th in their first season in the Southern League while in 2018/19 they ended up in 15th place. In the 2019/20 season they also finished the campaign in 15th place when the season was abandoned due to the coronavirus pandemic and a season later were 11th when play was stopped once again. In 2021/22 Manor Farm finished in 5th position but were beaten in the play-off final by Winchester City. The 2022/23 season saw Farm finish 18th which meant they had to play in an inter-step playoff against Saltash United of the Western League. Thankfully for Manor Farm, they won the game 2-0 to preserve their Southern League status. In 2023/24 they improved massively to finish 4th but were beaten by Frome Town in the play-off final. Last season they finished in 12th place.
