Following on from last week’s big win over Bristol Manor Farm, Bideford face another massive six-pointer on Saturday as they take on Brixham at Wall Park.

The Robins’ 2-0 win against Manor Farm at the Persimmon Homes Sports Ground gave them a bit of welcome breathing space towards the bottom of Division One South, opening up a six point gap to the relegation zone. However, as several teams below them have at least one game in hand, Bideford will be looking to increase that gap and move closer towards safety.

One of those teams are Brixham who have played two games less than the Robins and are six points from safety heading into the weekend. The Fishermen picked up a crucial win last week at fellow strugglers Melksham, a result which has really raised their hopes of survival this season. Another victory on Saturday against Bideford could potentially put them to within touching distance of the safe haven of 18th spot.

The only previous meeting between the sides came at the Sports Ground back in November, a game which ended in a 1-1 draw. Scott Robinson opened the scoring for Bideford, just prior to his move to Taunton Town, before Charlie Johnasen levelled for the Fishermen.

A Brief History of Brixham AFC
Brixham AFC were formed in 2012 by the merger of Brixham United and Brixham Villa. United had previously played in Western League Division One in the late 1970’s while Brixham Villa had been playing local level football since 1953. Brixham AFC joined the South West Peninsula League in 2014 after finishing runners-up in the South Devon League. The Fishermen spent five seasons in Division One East with a club record finish of third place in 2018/19. Due to a league restructure Brixham were placed in Premier Division East for 2019/20 but the season was abandoned due to the coronavirus pandemic. Since then, Brixham have continued their ascent by finishing 2nd in 2021/22, and a year later being crowned champions of the South West Peninsula East Division. An 8th place finish followed in their debut season in the Western League Premier Division and in 2024/25, Brixham won the league title and were promoted to the Southern League.
