Tiverton Town will be the first visitors to the Sports Ground in the league this season for a big Devon derby on Monday night. The game will have an extra bit of spice with Bideford signing former Tiverton captain James Richards in the summer in addition to the arrival of Dan Western earlier this year. Matt Andrew, Matt Bye and Tom Moody have also had spells in East Devon while Tiverton have former Robins players Owen Howe, Craig Duff and Jamie Mudge in their ranks.
The last meetings between the sides came in 2014/15 FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round. A bad tempered 0-0 draw at Ladysmead saw Owen Howe sent off for the home side with Bideford's Matt Wright also getting his marching orders after the final whistle. In the replay at the Sports Ground Richard Groves scored the only goal to send The Robins through to the next round.
Tiverton finished a respectable 8th in Division One South & West last season and will once again be looking to push for promotion this term. The Yellows won five, drew one and lost one in pre-season including a 1-1 draw with Torquay United of the National League and a 3-0 win over a young Plymouth Argyle XI. On Saturday they opened their league campaign at home to Larkhall Athletic with a 1-1 draw, Howe scoring the goal for the Yellows.
Bideford will be looking to bounce back from a frustrating opening day defeat at Mangotsfield United where they were very unfortunate to leave empty handed. A lack of cutting edge in front of goal proving to be the difference on the day.
