A Brief History of Evesham United FC
Formed in 1945, Evesham United spent the majority of their first forty competitive years in the Worcestershire Combination League (later renamed the Midland Combination League) where they were champions on six occasions. In 1992/93 Evesham joined the Southern League Midland Division where they played until winning promotion to the Premier Division in 2005 before being relegated after one season. In 2008/09 Evesham were crowned champions of Division One Midland Division and spent a further four years at Premier Division level but were relegated to Division One South & West in 2012. 2016/17 marked Evesham's 25th season as a Southern League club. Last season Evesham finished 5th and were beaten in the play off semi finals by Salisbury. Like ourselves Evesham are nicknamed "The Robins".

Last season’s play-off semi finalists Evesham are once again in the mix as we head towards the final month of the campaign. Evesham are 7th in the West Division (W17 D7 L11), just one point outside of the play-offs. Their most recent form has been a bit up and down. Defeats to Didcot and Cirencester were followed by wins over Bristol Manor Farm and Slimbridge, only for Evesham to then lose back to back games against Salisbury and Swindon Supermarine. Last time out they were back to winning ways with a 1-0 home victory over Winchester.

After their last gasp point against Salisbury, Bideford slipped to a disappointing midweek defeat at play-off rivals Bristol Manor Farm which leaves them in 9th place (W15 D9 L8) and five points off the play-off places. It was The Robins first loss in five games; however they have only picked up two points from their last three games and can ill afford to drop more points to another play-off contender. Ben Carter suffered a neck/shoulder injury in the midweek game at Bristol Manor Farm and could miss the rest of the season, as could Ben Palmer who limped off with a knee injury.

Bideford have never beaten Evesham although the sides have only met on four previous occasions. Last season, Evesham defeated Bideford 2-0 at the Jubilee Stadium before the sides played out a 1-1 draw in the return fixture in April. Back in September, Evesham recorded a 3-1 win at the Sports Ground.
