Bideford vs Street
Southern League Division One South
Saturday 9th February 2019
3:00pm kick off
Sports Ground, Bideford
Saturday’s game will be the fourth meeting this season between the sides after previous clashes in the League, League Cup and FA Trophy with Street winning two to Bideford’s one. The sides are level on 37 points going into the return league fixture at the Sports Ground and both will feel the play-offs are certainly a possibility as we enter the final third of the season. After suffering three straight defeats in January, Street have now gone three unbeaten with a very creditable draw at Moneyfields, a draw with Cinderford and a win over Mangotsfield. With the exception of a defeat at lowly Fleet, Bideford are in good form winning six of their last seven in the league beating the likes of Evesham, Yate and most recently Bristol Manor Farm. The Robins had a week off last week due to the snow at Melksham so will be looking forward to returning to action on Saturday.

A Brief History of Street FC
Founded in 1880, Street FC played in the Somerset Senior League winning the league title five times before joining the Western League in 1911. Street rejoined the Somerset League in 1922 but stepped up to the Western League once again in 1930. In 1938/39 the club reached the first round proper of the FA Cup for the first and only time where they were knocked out by Ipswich Town. The Cobblers finished second in the Western League in 1952/53 but went on to be relegated to Division Two in 1955. Street dropped back into the Somerset League in 1960 where they would win their sixth and seventh league titles in 1963/64 and 1965/66. After falling down to the fourth tier of the Somerset League in the early 1990s, Street came roaring back with four promotions on the bounce culminating in an eighth Somerset League title and a return to the Western League in 1997. After nine seasons in Division One, The Cobblers finished third in 2005/06 to gain promotion to the Premier Division. The club struggled initially but went on to establish themselves in the division before finishing as runners-up in 2016/17 and then becoming Western League champions for the first time in 2017/18 and a first ever promotion to the Southern League.
