Bideford fell to a disappointing 4-0 defeat at AFC Totton on Saturday in Division One South. The result leaves The Robins down in 13th place with three games remaining in the campaign.
Bideford started well enough and were the better side in the opening half hour. Billy Tucker went close early on before Jordan Ricketts hit the post in the 6th minute and Ryan Turner’s rebound was saved well by Shane Murphy in the Totton goal.
Totton took the lead thanks to a loose pass at the back which found Stuart Green in the box and he squared for Justin Bennett curled a shot into the right corner of the net. The home side doubled their lead four minutes later as a ball over the top was latched onto by Craig Feeney who lifted the ball beyond the advanced Joe Moore. Bideford were caught out in similar fashion on the stroke of half time as another ball over the top found Feeney who lifted the ball over Moore to make it 3-0.
The Robins started the second half well and were unlucky not to pull one back as Joel Randall’s shot came back off the post. However the game was well and truly over in the 57th minute as another long ball forward wasn’t dealt with by the Bideford back line and Feeney nipped in to lob the ball over Moore for his hat trick.
To their credit Bideford did not give up but somehow were not able to find the net despite efforts from Tucker and later Kevin Squire who headed wide in the 75th minute when it looked certain he would score.
