The 2019/20 season begins on Saturday at the Sports Ground as Moneyfields make the trip to North Devon in what will be a tough opening fixture for Bideford. The Portsmouth outfit were challenging for the Division One South title last season only falling away in the final few weeks to finish in fourth place. They lost out to eventual Play-Off winners Yate Town in the semi finals. It’s been almost two weeks since Bideford completed their pre-season fixtures with a narrow defeat at Taunton Town but Sean Joyce’s side are itching to get the season started. There were some very encouraging performances against Hereford, Truro City, Plymouth Argyle and Taunton giving The Robins’ fans plenty of hope for a good campaign in 2019/20.

A Brief History of Moneyfields FC
Moneyfields FC are based in Portsmouth and were founded in 1987 as Portsmouth Civil Service. The club joined the Hampshire League in 1991 winning Division Three in their first season. In 1992/93 they were Division Two champions and were promoted to Division One where they finished 3rd in 1993/94. The club then changed their name to Moneyfields in 1994 and were crowned Hampshire League champions in 1996/97. Moneyfields then joined the Wessex League in 1998. In 2016/17 Moneyfields finished top of the Wessex League Premier Division but were demoted to runners-up after being deducted three points for fielding an ineligible player. Despite this, Moneyfields were promoted to the Southern League Division One East for the 2017/18 season where they finished 10th before transferring to Division One South (formerly West) for 2018/19 finishing in 4th place before losing out to Yate Town in the Play-Off semi finals.
