Bideford produced a stunning second half comeback to beat high flying Melksham Town for only their second away league win of the campaign on Saturday.
The Robins trailed 2-0 at half time thanks to goals from Albie Hopkins and a penalty from Jack Ball in added time at the end of the first half.
However Bideford came roaring back in the second half against a side who had won 13 of their previous 15 games. Alex Byrne pulled one back in the 52nd minute firing home after Jamie Bartlett had made two quick fire saves. Niall Heeney then struck the equaliser in the 74th minute working his way into the penalty area and slotting past Bartlett into the corner. Finally, substitute Sean Downing came off the bench to snatch the winner from close range with seven minutes left to seal a fantastic three points and increase Bideford’s unbeaten run to seven games.
Having been languishing in the bottom three before Christmas, The Robins’ have really turned things around in 2020 and are now up to 11th position, a massive 21 points away from the relegation zone.
