Billinge FC manager Geoff Parr was delighted this week to get his new recruits to put pen to paper and sign for the club. Geoff and all current staff are delighted to welcome new to BFC Declan Gregson, Craig Maddox, Jake Grundy and Ryan Sephton along with returning players Sean Homer and Ant Ascroft. Big thanks to one of Geoff's assistants and player Craig Homer who scouted the lads for many seasons before bringing them to the club.
Manager Geoff Parr said " Really happy to have the new lads in and they strengthen us in many areas. We have a great core at this club with some family members and close friends that are going to be committed to the cause this year. BFC has always had the ability but I believe we will now have a bite and desire. The foundations where laid by Gaz Fletcher and myself last season and all I will do is build on them. We still have a few more signings to do tonight and in the coming days with new and existing players but BFC is in a very healthy state"
Meanwhile last weekend It was all go and Billinge FootballClub had contrasting results from their two pre-season friendlies.
Geoff Parr took an XI to Daten FC to take on their first team; with a number of new recruits in tow and they managed to run out 5-2 winners with Ryan Sephton, Declan Gregson, Ant Ascroft and Gaz Fletcher getting on the score sheet.
The other match was taken by stand-in player manager for the day Anthony Higgins and saw Billinge travel to play New Street.
It was not a good day for the second Billinge team as New Street ran out 7-1 winners but as this is pre-season it was a valuable football match. Up to half-time the team were still in with a shout with the score line balanced at 2-1 but it was an experienced NSFC that put the mainly young BFC to the sword.
Both fixtures have given manager Geoff Parr a real insight into what he needs to do to be ready for August 9th when the season kicks off.
