Read on for what is happening with regards to training returning to Community Rugby Clubs.

At the start of the lockdown England Rugby issued a Return to Rugby Roadmap of how training and matches would return to clubs. Since lockdown started to be eased we have been Step B of the plan.

Along with this, a risk assessment was issued for clubs who wish to return to training. The risk assessment confirmed that we would be unable start training in a manner which would safe, enjoyable, and have more than three people participate. However this is a moot point due to Birmingham City University not opening Moor Lane at this time. In the past few weeks England Rugby have also stated that if training does go ahead that is in breach of the guidance both the coach running the sessions and the club will be subject to a disciplinary process.

England Rugby have now sent plans to for approval to Public Health England on how to proceed to Step C of the plan. Once this has been approved and we see the risk assessment documentation we will be able to let you know when and if training is able to resume.

We will not only need to abide by England Rugby's guidance and risk assessment, but also that of Birmingham City University, The UK Government guidance for England, and Birmingham City Council. Additionally some of our members may also be affected by any local restrictions that may be put in place.

The process of returning to play is not guaranteed to be linear, and we may need to return to Step B, or even to Step A depending on what happens with COVID-19.
