Bees’ Head of Rugby moves on

By Richard Smith

Pete Glackin leaves the Bees by mutual agreement after three seasons in charge

It has been announced today (Friday 10th May) that Birmingham & Solihull’s Rugby Club’s Head of Rugby, Pete Glackin, has left the club by mutual agreement.

Glackin, a former player at the club, spent three seasons at Portway in the Head of Rugby role, securing promotion from the Midlands Premier Division at the end of his second season in charge. He also led the squad during a challenging 2018/19 season in National League 2 South, winning plaudits from players and supporters alike despite the Bees being relegated at the end of the campaign.

“Glacks has done a tremendous job over the last three years, bringing huge amounts of energy, passion and professionalism to the role. He has gone about his work with a superb ethos in a measured and pragmatic way, earning respect from every quarter of the club” said Bees’ Chairman, Chris Loughran. “Working closely with forwards coach/Players’ Player of the season Stewart Pearl, they have formed a very effective partnership and helped develop the culture to the club.”

“With Birmingham & Solihull looking to operate on a different playing and financial model next season, we had a very constructive discussion with Glacks regarding his future role and his continuing ambitions in the game. We therefore part company on very good terms, with his reputation very much enhanced following his time with us. On behalf of all concerned at the Bees, I would like to wish him and his family, who have shown the same level of commitment to the cause over the last three seasons, every success in the future.”
