On top of a Leonie Gough brace, Nia Geary-Andrews made it six goals in as many Cleeve games since joining and was accompanied on the scoresheet by Immy O’Brien and Jess Stirling.
The game didn’t take long to get going, as Geary-Andrews opened the scoring in only the fourth minute, lobbing the goalkeeper from the edge of the box with class.
10 minutes later, Mitres goalkeeper Lexi Jones was called into action to keep Longlevens out with a fine save.
In the space of three minutes, the visitors had completely flipped the game on its head, scoring in both the 17th and 20th minute to claim a 2-1 advantage.
The next 10 minutes saw four changes for the Mitres, as Chris Gough looked to mix up what was happening out on the pitch.
Towards the end of the first half, Bishops Cleeve looked to have their mojo back, with Belle Torrington and Lauren Peck both coming close to levelling the score before the break.
The second half brought about a quiet opening 15 minutes, before Stirling’s effort from inside the box was put behind the goalkeeper. She was also first to the resulting corner, so Longlevens survived the scare.
It only took another minute of play, however, for the fourth goal of the game to come, as the first Miss Mitre to reach 100 goals in green and white added another to her tally, helped by a significant deflection off of a Longlevens defender.
Only a minute later again, Cleeve had another chance to score, as Leigh Mitchell met a Becca Harris cross following a short corner from Stirling, but she couldn’t direct her first-time attempt on target.
After two good saves from the visitors’ goalkeeper kept Stirling out, it was starting to look like the Mitres wouldn’t be able to find a third way through her. That was until O’Brien stepped up big time, neatly placing an effort into the top right corner. The ‘keeper stood no chance.
Five minutes later, Stirling doubled her side’s advantage, making it 4-2 with just under 20 to go. Like O’Brien’s, it was a calm, precise finish, and the goalkeeper couldn’t keep her out this time.
Mitchell came close to scoring again, this time meeting a cross with her head but only troubling Longlevens’ number 1 slightly.
With five minutes to go, Gough completed her brace and wrapped a five-star Cleeve performance up nicely. It was another solid finish, but the hosts weren’t done yet.
Despite being three goals up with only two minutes to go, they were still pushing and were really unlucky not to walk away with six goals as Flora Johnson saw her shot from outside the box rattle crossbar.
That was all the action from Kayte Lane, as Bishops Cleeve Ladies made no mistake in making it seven wins in a row despite early concerns.
Next up for them is Southmead away next weekend, before finishing the year against Iron Acton on the 21st December.
