The first league match of the season sees Cleeve Ladies travel south to play Olveston Untied Ladies. A tough opening playing back to back league winners. Olveston's desire for more success this season appears unabated with the recruitment of more new players. They have had a good pre-season winning a number of games against higher league opposition...so they will the more than ready. We played them last season and came away beaten 4-2. A game Olveston dominated and deserved to win.

So what is store for Cleeve ladies this season? After gaining promotion last year this season looks like a massive step up in class.

Div 1 is going to be very competitive and is stacked with seasoned and experienced Division 1 teams - Abbeymead, Bristol and West, Cotswold Rangers, Longlevans, Longwell Green and Pucklechurch. Glos City have also joined the league and have been placed straight into Div 1, hoping to only stay for one season in our league. They have ambition to climb the football pyramid at pace and I will be interested to monitor their progression.

So here's looking forward to a challenging season where we will have to learn and adapt .....quickly.....I am hoping that the saying 'football is a funny old game' comes to fruition this year.
