Longlevans Ladies 1 v 4 Cleeve Ladies

Cleeve ladies responded to the defeat on the opening day with an excellent display against Longlevans Ladies. From the first whistle Cleeve were on the front foot and could have been 2 up in the first 10 mins. Only excellent goalkeeper kept the score level. On 15 mins Cleeve got the break through their play deserved.when Leonie fired in from the edge of the box. 0-1. Cleeve remained in reasonable control of the game but failed to take any more of the chances. On the 43rd minute a couple of missed tackles let Longlevans in and they scored with probably their only clear cut opportunity in the first half. HT 1-1.

A disappointing end to a first half where we certainly had the upper hand. After a pretty even start to the second half Cleeve took the lead on 55 mins when a shot from Jess Stirling was deflected past the stranded Longlevans Keeper. 1-2. Leonie finished calmly when put through on 63 mins 1-3 and the game was effectively made safe when a second Longlevans own goal from an in swinging corner on 68 mins made the score 1-4.

A really good and solid performance throughout the team. With the defense working well. Emily Donne was Player of the Match.
