So this weekend the Ladies travel over to the newly formed Gloucester City Women Football Club - First class facilities, a brand new pitch, proper stands and a crowd! They joined the County League this year and given their ambition and ability to attract the best local female footballers around, were placed straight into Division 1. They have made no secret about the club’s ambition and desire to climb the footballing ladder within a short period of time… so this could be the first and last time we play at the ‘New Meadow Park’.
They recently defeated Weston Super Mare (from the South West Regional League) in the first round of the FA Cup and at the weekend were involved in a thrilling 5-5 draw with Tuffley Rovers which they won on penalties.
So what are we going to expect? It’s going to be tough….having capitulated in the last two games the omens are not great…but football is a strange game.
As the minnows of the league we travel more in hope than expectation.
For those people who normally come along to support the Ladies please NOTE ……Gloucester City are the only club currently in the Gloucestershire Womens County League who charge supporters to watch the game……so if you are thinking about coming to support ……. don’t forget to bring your £3 along !!!
