Bishops Cleeve were defeated at Meadow Lane 3-1 after a Ryan Bole brace and a Samuel Francis tap in secured them all three points.
The Mitres were able to get a goal late on after Harry Leeson scored an open goal after an initial penalty save from Joel Butler
Westbury instantly made an impact as within five minutes into the game Bole was rewarded with an open goal after a well-placed cross by A. Witchell.
Only a matter of minutes later Bole was able to find his second after the ball was well left for him as he rifled the ball in the goal to double their lead.
Bishops Cleeve saw a couple chances within the first 20 minutes with efforts from Devanti McInerney and Ben McLean but both efforts not threatening the keeper.
Ross Langworthy decided to take his chance with a shot from range but a deflection from the defender caused the ball to go off course and safely in the keeper's hands.
Westbury’s Bevan Cross consistently kept creating chances on the right side of the pitch with his crosses not being able to find a final man.
Josh Nelmes had a great opportunity late in the first half as they searched for their first of the game, but his header was just wide.
Westbury did have a chance on the counter attack however Willaim Turner stops the transition and received the first booking of the game.
However, Westbury answered back with the last kick of the half as Francis was able to tap the ball in after Bole’s header couldn’t find its way in.
Jack Watts came close to a goal early in the second half when his header was punched away off the line as Cleeve still searched for a goal.
Both teams couldn’t find the goal for the next 30 minutes as they couldn’t make the most out of their chances, especially Cleeve who had multiple chances through set-pieces.
Late on Watts tried his luck as he found himself in space and with Cleeve desperate for a goal he shot from long range, but Butler easily saved.
Keeping also found himself open after cutting in field but blazing his shot far and wide from the target.
However, with the last kick off the game Harry Leeson was able to grab a consolation goal after Langworthy’s penalty was initially saved but was able to put it back in the box to Leeson.
This result keeps Cleeve in sixth as they sit one point away form a playoff spot with Malvern Town in fifth.
The Mitres now look on to the next game as they face Exmouth Town at home this Saturday at 3pm.
