Sutton Secure New Signing

Sutton Secure New Signing

Scott Armstrong9 Dec 2016 - 09:09

Bishop Sutton have secured a new signing with the experienced defensive midfielder joining the club.

Subject to the completion of the paperwork with the league today.

Shomari Sengor (Pictured in Yellow) has signed the club from The Toolstation Western Premier Division side Hallen FC. Shomari known as 'Sham' has featured 18 times this season for the struggling premier division outfit. Shomari previous clubs also include Hellenic Division One West side Tytherington Rocks FC along with a brief spell at fellow Toolstation Western League Division 1 side Radstock Town FC.

Manager Scott Armstrong added this to the news, ' We are delighted to get Sham into the club as he is very quick athletic and versatile. Sham can play in the midfield or in defence which adds great flexibility for us. Sham will come into the side and compete for a place in the side along with the other lads. I am trying to build a squad rather than a side as its a long season and everyone will have to play a part. Sham again comes from a similar background to the other lads and will settle in quickly having already played with a number of our lads. I would like to thank Hallen FC for the swift transfer allowing Sham to be involved at the weekend'

On other club news and signings Scott Armstrong added this 'I have 7 days outstanding for a couple of players which I think can add something to the squad and to the club. If we managed to secure one or two of these I cant see much more activity happening. I have had to make changes to the squad due to players who I believe weren't quite up to it asking to move on due to limited game time. In recent weeks we have seen a couple of young players leave due to lack of minutes and frustration of not playing which is something I am trying to address. Defender Conner Heal has departed now permanently and joined Cheddar FC reserves in the Somerset County Division 2 East. Experienced defender John Timlin has also called time at the club having found opportunities limited since being injured with a hamstring problem. I wanted to keep JT at the club in a coaching capacity but unfortunately JT still wants to be playing given his age. Also as stated in earlier comments midfielder Tom Hodges departed back in September for league rivals Welton Rovers FC. Lighting Quick winger Craig Parsons also departed the club for Premier Division club Bitton FC. I also have players who are currently out on loan to gain minutes and recover from injuries these include Ben Francis (Hanham Athletic), Jack Dicker (Highridge United FC) and Josh Dakwa'.

Finally although it appears we have a lot of players signed on, we have lost a couple at the start of the season for various reasons. The following are currently playing for other clubs: Tai Coleman (Stockwood Green FC), Reece Collyer (Youth Team), Paul Comley (Unknown), Lee Delaney (Unknown), Billy Downes (Bristol Telephones), Alex Graham ( Bristol Telephones), Rob Hunt (Youth Team), Jordan Lee (Stockwood Green), Kai Long (Youth Team), Adam Mahmood (returned to parent club Paulton Rovers FC), Dan Hamblin (Work Commitments), Ellis Hancock, Jack Nix (Timsbury Athletic), Liam Villis (Left Club), Garfield White (Banned by the GFA), Tony, McElhone (Left Club)
