Sutton made the short trip to Welton hoping to improve on the two each home draw in the second game of the season.
Josh Yakub continued in goal behind Jack Dicker, Kai Long, captain Jack Keen and Reece John, midfield of Ben Snell, Sam Downes, Sam Roberts and Chris Hind, with Mason Dagger and Josh Keen up front.
It soon became apparent that the teams were reasonably evenly matched and it seemed that a close game would ensue.
On 19 minutes a good Sutton build up finished with Daggar firing just wide of the left post.
Somewhat against the run of the play Welton scored twice in the 35th and 37th minutes.
An in swinging corner from the left eluded Yakub and found an unmarked Tom Smith at the far post who headed home, quickly followed by a quick break down the left and cross smartly converted by ex Sutton centre forward Alex Chapman.

Sutton’s Man of the Match, midfielder Chris Hind for a tireless and effective midfield display.
Having played well in the first half and unfortunate to be two down at half time Sutton went ‘off the boil’ and although keeping a clean sheet had a disappointing second half.
Next up, a home game against early season pace setters Bristol Telephones next Saturday 9th December.
