Single goal enough for victory but could have been many more

After the heavy rains the match referee Ian Hawkins inspected the pitch at 9.00 am and pronounced it playable.
Unfortunately an un forecast heavy lunchtime shower further softened the pitch but after another lengthy inspection by the officials the decision to play was confirmed.
With Devizes having two more points and sitting four places higher another close game was anticipated

Josh Yakub resumed in goal behind Jack Dicker, Kai Long, captain Jack Keen and Reece John, a midfield of Ben Snell, Sam Roberts Sam Downes and Chris Hind and with Mason Daggar and Josh Keen up front.

Yakub was called into action after 10 minutes, blocking a point blank shot from two metres out.
5 minutes later a Hind goalbound shot was well saved by the Devizes keeper.
Late in the half Sutton exerted continuous pressure, the visiting keeper making another two good saves.

Sutton continued to have the best of the play and on 60 minutes Downes had a good shot well saved.
The first sub was made on 72 minutes, Josh Keen giving way to Corey Rawlings.
The goal came a minute later, a Downes cross from the left found Jack Keen whose bullet header gave the keeper no chance.
The other two subs were made in the 82nd and 87th minutes, Snell and Hind being replaced by Ben Alexander and Tom Clark.

Sutton’s Man of the Match, captain Jack Keen for his all round performance and goal.
An altogether satisfying performance showing promise for the rest of the season.
Sutton visit Welton Rovers on the 2nd December hoping to improve upon the 2 – 2 home draw in the second game of the season followed by a home game v early season high flyers Bristol Telephones on the 9th December.
