Chris Manns coped comfortably with the very early chances that Hengrove created but on nine minutes, an unlucky handball from Joshua Comerford led to the award of a penalty. Grove striker Jack Jones gave Manns no chance with a firmly hit spot kick into the left hand corner of the net.
Kai Long came up for a corner and his header was well saved by visiting keeper Carl Bush and although Sutton had their fair share of possession, that Long chance was a rare one in the first period and they were made to pay on 39 minutes when Will Harvey fired past Manns from the angle.
After the break, Sutton came out with more purpose and enjoyed arguably their best spell of the match but were hit by a set piece goal when Shaun Trott headed home a Jack Jones corner. Sutton continued in a similar vein and Kieran Ireland's effort was smothered by Bush before Long, facing his own goal, got too much on to a back pass and sent the ball ballooning over Manns and into the unguarded net for 4-0.
