Well the 2014 6 Nations championship is over and what a final weekend! Ireland won a close encounter in Paris to take the 6 Nations crown, while Wales and England thrashed Scotland and Italy respectively. The high scoring games in Cardiff and Rome saw a high scoring week in our prediction league!

Players had a good final week with 5 making up the top 10, with Jordan Pearson, Austin Clarke, Alex Evans, Lee Acton and Anton Garcia all challenging for the weekly prize, however Kevin Bailey managed to hold them all off and secure the top spot. Well done Kevin, I will have your money the next time you are down at the club.
I am sure you are all waiting with baited breath to see how this week’s result’s affected the end of league positions! Well I will keep you in suspense a little longer as I start at the bottom and this year’s wooden spoon goes to Esther Holden! Esther has battled hard for the bottom spot all along and a score of 104 this week helped her secure bottom spot. The one positive thing Esther is that things can only get better for the 2015 prediction league.

At the sharp end of the table the ladies were well represented with Hannah Johnson and Jane Thundercliffe in fifth and sixth place. In fact Jane was 1 of 3 Thundercliffe’s who were in the top 12, which meant they were the best family of predictor’s. Other’s making the top 10 were 2nd team captain Austin Clarke, first team coach Chris Hayton and former mini and youth Chairman, Tony White. However, none of them were able to claw back Graham Bancroft or Josh Thundercliffe as they secured the top 2 spots. So the only remaining question is, did Josh score low enough to beat long time leader Graham Bancroft to be our overall champion and the answer to this is?? Yes he did, he managed to overcome a 6 point difference last week, to just squeeze a 2 point winning margin. Well done Josh, I am sure the £100 prize will come in handy for an impoverished student!

This concludes this year’s prediction league, I hope you have enjoyed it and thank you for taking part and supporting the club, we hope to have you back for the 2015 prediction league.
