The Season isn’t over at Blackburn

The Season isn’t over at Blackburn, the Senior teams may not have any matches but some of our Under 15s are still turning out for matches. The unfortunate thing is that they’re not being played at Blackburn but that doesn’t mean it’s not worthy of note.

On Friday the 10th May 9 out of the 10 Under 15s who are on the Sale Sharks Developing Player Programme (SDPP) played competitive games, 5 Spencer Brandon, Lincoln Briggs, Henry Allanson, Tom Gaffey and Asa Hodson represented Sharks Lancashire DPP at St. Helens against Merseyside DPP and were victorious by 25 to 15, the other 4, Felipe Jackson, Oliver Littlechild, George Lyons and Mickey Papadopoulos turned out at Carrington for another Lancashire DPP team which took on Manchester and were also victorious. Unfortunately, Ethan Norris (9) was carrying an injury and was therefore unable to play.

On the 26th May 5 of the above played against each other in a Sales Sharks Festival and on the following day Sale announced that Tom Gaffey had been selected to join the Sale Development Group (fly half) and the remaining 9 boys continue on their development in the SDPP. Well done to all these youngsters.

I know I’m repeating myself, but the above does underline the dedicated time and quality work put in by the Mini, Youth and Colts coaches and Assistants in coaching, administering the programme and supporting the youngsters at Blackburn to progress AND enjoy the game of rugby. Thanks to them and to the all the parents who entrust their children to the Club in the knowledge of the quality work carried out by the above.

We look forward to seeing all our youngsters playing in the Senior sides in the future and to the parents being here to watch them and enjoy the BRUFC facilities and atmosphere.
