Vale of Lune v BRUFC Senior Colts
Frank Morgan cup
Blackburn travel to Vale to take on our good friends in the first round of the Frank Morgan under 18’s cup.
Blackburn had only 15 players compared to Vale’s 25 strong squad, which ultimately made the difference in this hard fought contest.
Blackburn took the early advantage when Leighton Braithwaite scored in the left-hand corner after the ball was well worked across the backs allowing Leighton the space to score.
Vale then settled into their pattern scoring two tries back to back to take the lead.
The game then steadied into a very evenly matched tie until Blackman took the lead when George Burke collected the ball from a loose Vale line out, offloading it to Sam Dinsdale who ran a great straight line allow him to break the Vale game line and ultimately score.
This took Blackman to within two points of Vale who then proceeded to kick off to restart the game and within seconds had somehow managed to break through Blackman’s defence to score and to retake a more commanding lead.
This was the final score of the first half, which ended 17-10
The second half saw a very committed game of rugby and Vale scoring two further tries, their last one in the very last play the game to run away with the score line and a victory winning 27–10.
The school line flatters Vale, although they played very well and had the benefit of a stronger deeper squad which they utilised well through the game. Burn played extremely well and was very unlucky not to convert a number of their chances.
We move on to start the revised conference league fixtures with a trip to Eccles on the 23rd of November
