From Dino Radice, Director of Rugby
I would first like to thank Mark for everything he has done over the last 14 years. His contribution has been immense, and we fully understand his decision to move on from Ramsgreve Drive. He’s not going far, and we’re grateful that he has agreed to continue offering his support in any way he can going forward. We’re pleased to share that Paddy Gaffey will step in to support the squad until the end of the season. Paddy, our Club Captain, has spent the last four seasons working within the medical team at Manchester United Women FC and will bring a wealth of experience to BRUFC.
Having joined Blackburn at eight years old, Paddy has progressed through the club’s mini and youth programme, captained the First XV, and remains our Club Captain as he takes on this additional role while recovering from a long-term injury. We’re grateful for his commitment as we look to appoint a long-term replacement.
From Mark Taylor
I’ve absolutely loved every minute of my two spells at Blackburn. It’s a club run – and supported – by truly fantastic people. From the moment I first arrived 14 years ago, knowing nothing about rugby, I couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome (and I now know just a little bit more than nothing!).
I hadn’t planned on leaving any time soon, but life changes quickly and new opportunities arise. I have no doubt the club will continue to grow and improve in the years ahead, even without me.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all the players who’ve had to endure me over the years, the supporters, the back-room staff, bar staff, committee, the coaches – particularly Greg over these last few seasons – and most of all Dino, who put his faith in me all those years ago and has constantly supported me in developing the medical side of the club.
Above all, it’s been great fun, and I’ll be back for a beer as soon as possible.
