Burn had their biggest win of the season as they battered Hawcoat Park at Ramsgreave Drive 116-0.

As the score suggests Burn dominated this game from start to the finish, with Hawcoat Park never really threatening to score any points, while Burn scored at ease on a regular basis as they out scrummed, outpaced and out powered their opponents.

As there was not much else in the game other than Burn tries I will just list the scores and scorers the best I can.

1. 3 minutes, Burn caught and drove from the HP 22, Jordan Pearson charged on, Burn kept the momentum, before the ball was popped up to Alex Evans who crashed over from a couple of metres out. Jake Maher converted. 7-0
2. 10 minutes, Sean Hall gathered a HP kick in his own half, he broke a tackle and passed to Marc Maher, he then put in a clever kick, Rick Maudsley chased well and he managed to gather the ball just before the try line and twist to touch down in the corner. Jake Maher converted. 14-0
3. 13 minutes, a break from Sean Hall started the move, he drew the last man although his pass went to ground, Rick Maudsley gathered and kept Burn going forward and reached the 22. The ball was passed out to March Maher, he broke through the defence, but was stopped a metre from the try line, however he managed to pop a pass to man of the match Ben Corless to score on his debut. Jake Maher converted. 21-0
4. 16 minutes, from a scrum on the 10 metre line Luke Cunningham fed Craig Aikman, his grubber kick saw the ball reach the HP 22, Matt Hughes outpaced his opposition to hack the ball on and he continued to run and fall on the ball as it crossed the try line. Conversion missed. 26-0
5. 23 minutes, despite being down to 14 men after Nick King was binned on 19 minutes, Burn managed to drive HP off a scrum where they had the put in, the ball was then released to the backs, Marc Maher made a break, he passed to Luke Cunningham, he popped to Rick Maudsley and he in turn fed to Sean Hall who had an easy run in to score. Jake Maher converted. 33-0
6. 25 minutes, Rick Maudsley scored his second try, he caught a sliced HP kick on the 40 metre line, he cut inside and inside again to split open the remaining defence allowing him to score under the posts. Jake Maher converted. 40-0
7. 30 minutes, this time it was Matt Hughes who scored his second try, from a scrum 30 metres out the ball came loose at the back of the scrum, Ethan Wringe tidied up and passed to Hughes, his opposite man was right on him, but Hughes brushed him off and then sprinted on to score. Conversion missed. 45-0
8. 37 minutes, Sam Parkinson and Ben Corless had driven Burn up the pitch to the 22, then a jinking run from Sean Hall saw him run in. Jake Maher converted. 52 -0
9. 40 minutes, a scrum 10 metres from the HP try line saw Burn get a good push on, as the momentum was lost a sniping run from Sean Hall saw him cross the try line for his second try. Conversion missed. 57-0.
10. 47 minutes, HP had a 5 metre scrum from their own line, Burn forwards again drove their opponents off their own ball, Jordan Pearson picked at the back of the scrum and barged his way through to score. Jake Maher converted. 64-0
11. 51 minutes, powerful runs from Tony Thoma and Alex Evans had put Burn on the front foot, the ball was then released to the backs, Marc Maher made another break, he checked one way and then the other, he then fed back inside to his brother Jake who just had enough pace to go on and score under the posts. Jake Maher converted. 71-0
12. 55 minutes, from a scrappy line out on the 10 metre line Jordan Pearson tidied up and set off on a typical barracking run, he had chances to pass, but it looked like he had only one thought of going it alone, but he then finally passed to Matt Hughes on the 22 who cruised in to score his hat-trick. Jake Maher converted. 78-0
13. 61 minutes, another Marc Maher break took play to 5 metres from the try line, he fed Nick King, he drove on before passing to Ethan Wringe, he recycled the ball and Nick King took the ball at the back of the ruck and he went low to score. Conversion missed. 83-0
14. 67 minutes, Nick King scored his second after Burn had driven on and kept the ball alive through numerous pairs of hands allowing King to crash over again. Conversion missed. 88-0
15. 69 minutes, Burn had a scrum on the half way line after the restart from HP had gone dead, the ball was passed to Marc Maher, he dinked a little chip over the top of the HP defensive line, he ran on to gather his own kick and then showed quick hands to release Ethan Wringe who had enough pace to run on to score from just outside the 22. Jake Maher converted. 95-0
16. 71 minutes, from the restart Nick King caught and made ground, Alex Evans then took over from the 10 metre line and embarked on a barnstorming run that was the furthest any of us had ever seen him run! However as he made it to a metre out he was stopped, but the ball was then spread out and Ben Corless crossed for his second try. Jake Maher converted. 102-0
17. 75 minutes, the Burn forwards had taken play into the HP half before Jake Maher made a half break, he then passed on to Sam Parkinson, he made it through a gap in the defence, he then released Marc Maher who ran on to score. Jake Maher converted. 109-0
18. 78 minutes, Rick Maudsley gathered a kick in his own half and his run took play into the HP half, the ball was then fed out wide where Ben Renton made good progress to the 22 his pass back inside went to ground, however Ethan Wringe managed to sweep it up and run on to score his second try. Jake Maher converted. 116-0

There are just 5 league games left this season, this was another 5 points for Burn, however Burn need Leigh to slip up, but they keep winning and don’t look like letting anything slip. Burn will keep trying and face a tough game next week as St. Benedict’s, who beat Burn earlier in the season, make the trip down to Ramsgreave Drive.
