Warrington were never going to let Burn beat them a third time.

Warrington took control from the off scoring the first converted try within the first 2 minutes. Burn immediately came back with a score of their own when James Halliwell charged down a clearance kick and outpaced everyone to touch the ball over the line. 7-7. A few phases past and Warrington were pressuring Burn by retaining the ball at every phase. Burn were sucked in which allowed the home side’s winger to dart around the outside and pass the ball on to beat Steve McNamara and score in the corner. The conversion was unsuccessful putting Warrington 12-7 up.
A penalty conceded by Burn gave the Warrington No.10 a kick at goal which was slotted to edge the home side another 3 points up. Burn’s scrum seemed a lot tighter this week and it showed as Burn set up a good platform to attack Warrington. Some well worked passing between Joshua Reilly and Zac Child led to Joe Lord being put in space. With one defender to beat Joe passed to Steve McNamara who stormed his way into the corner to score. No conversion, 15-12.
Again Burn had a solid scrum which took play into Warrington’s 22. Burn were ever getting closer to score. A ruck 10m out saw Ben Fox pass to Zac Child, seeing a gap he burst through it to score in the corner. Another unsuccessful conversion, but Burn had their heads up. 15-17. Burn only stayed in front for a few minutes as another infringement gave the Warrington No.10 another 3 points putting the score at 18-17.
Burn were handed an opportunity to again take the lead but the penalty kick was narrowly off target. Warrington were not as unlucky, the next score came from a successful penalty kick, leaving the half time score at 21-17.
The second half started and both teams were hungry for the win which resulted in mistakes being made. Burn gave the home team another opportunity to kick for goal. This was not successful.
The tension between both teams was tangible, no more so than during an altercation which saw Gareth Bullen being shown the yellow card. The offending opposition player was allowed to play on. The home team were quick to use this tension and scored another converted try. 28 – 17.
Following the next phases Warrington were handed a try on a plate as they skilfully intercepted the ball from a pass made by Mark Pemberton. The conversion brought the score to 35 – 17.
Burn were relentless as they continued to overpower Warrington in the scrums. Their persistence paid off allowing James Halliwell his second try of the match. The conversion was missed making the final score 35 -22.
