Blackburn Junior Colts reach final of Colts league Plate after a thrilling game at New Brighton.

Burn Junior Colts eventually ran out winners by 29 points to 20 in a thrilling encounter. Burn domiated the early exchanges putting pressure on the New Brighton line only to conceed a break away try from 70 metres. The team then fought back with two excellent tries scored by Zac Child and Calum Burke, the latter being converted defly by Danny Caldwell. Half Time New Brighton 5 Blackburn 12.

Playing against the wind in the 2nd half Burn were under immediate pressure but held out
resolutely when Alex Garner effected a turnover and Tom Hallam put in Fullback Joe Till who ran 80 meteres to score. So with 15 minutes to go New Brighton 5 Blackburn 17.

New Brighton came back capitalising on some errors and scored 2 good tries and then landed a penalty in front of the posts. Score with 3 and a half minutes left was New Brighton 20 Blackburn 17.

Blackburn then came storming back into the wind and after a break Matt Walker sprinted away to score in the corner with the try converted from the touchline by captain Levi Lambert. The sizeable travelling support went crazy but with one minute left on the clock anything was possible! Burn gathered the kickoff and set up another attack with a strong run from Jack Swindlehurst resulting in a second try for Zac Child. The final whistle went and Burn side had made another final.

Many congratulations to all 19 lads involved in the game, you have done yourselves and the club proud. We now anticipate the final at Eccles vs Tyldesley on 25th April.
