It was the first clean sweep since, well, a long-time ago that we had a full house of league wins. The 5s were unable to join the winners circle due to a COVID related postponement but some fine teams performance made it a very enjoyable Saturday.
Without Tanweer Sikandar the 1s pulled off a great win at Holmesdale CC. Chasing 206, Jack Hersh celebrated his 26th birthday with 60 whilst overseas Ravindra Karunaratne hit 46*. Arafat Bhuiyan was the pick of the bowlers amongst some very decent efforts, taking 3/33 whilst Mahi Mahfazul marked his return to the 1st XI with 1/32 from 10 overs.
The 2s looked a little flat at home to Canterbury CC as they slipped to 110/7. However, a mammoth 8th wicket partnership between Rez Karim (95) and James Yandell (64) boosted the score to 312/9. That was more than enough.
It was a slow day at the Academy as Orpington CC made 136 in 43.2 overs. Ben Jiggins took 3-fer before 45* from Alex Price saw us home by 8 wickets.
The 4s got off the mark with a vital win over Bromley CC. Both teams were winless going into the match. The 4s emerged winners by just two runs as we held on to defend 163/9.
The 6s picked up the points versus an unbeaten Holmesdale 3rd XI. A good display with the ball and in the field restricted the opponents to 139/7. Jeremy Nelson made 37 but the innings was in trouble at 85/5 before Krishna Kumar (25) and Will Howlett (38*) combined for 50 runs to put us on the brink of a great win. Will sealed the deal with a boundary from the 1st ball of the last over - much to Tesco's delight ..
