A promotion challenge which needed to get back on track faltered further as the Sixes came unstuck versus Bexley Park.
Having elected to bat, skipper Richard Ward was soon in the action at Krishna Kumar was adjudged leg before. Ward (41) combined with Rumeet Singh (22) in a useful second wicket partnership after negotiating a tricky spell when the seamers found good movement off a greenish pitch. However, this would prove to be the Sixes most effective partnership as batsman came and went. A quick fire 26* from Kiran Pinto set the home team 163 to win.
The visitors picked up two cheap wickets early in the reply and the home team looked to be adrift at 68/4. At drinks the fielding side looked marginal favourites but the fifth wicket proved crucial. The powerful hitting of the number six combined with the patience of the opener added nearly 100 runs for the 5th wicket. By the time the partnership had been broken it was too late. Harbaksh Birdi (2/27) was the pick of the bowlers but the inability to take the crucial wicket cost Blackheath.
