Blackwater Rugby Football Club (RFC) is a Men’s Division III rugby club, belonging to the Capital Rugby Union, USA Rugby. Practices are always open to newcomers!
Rugby is a tough contact sport played on a large field with 15 players a side and 1 ball. It's a running-passing-tackling-shoving-pulling-wonderful mess. After it's over you share a beer with the guys you just fought... it's awesome.
As a fairly unknown sport in the US, most guys come out knowing nothing of how the game works. Not a problem. We'll teach, you'll learn, you'll love it. Here's a video that explains the basics pretty well:

As a new player all you need is some basic fitness (there is a lot of running), a pair of cleats, and a mouth guard. Most of all, a sense of fun and toughness.
Typical Yearly Schedule:
July-August: Preseason Training
September-October: League Matches
January-February: Preseason Training
March-April: Friendly Matches
June-July: 7’s Tournaments
Practice sessions are updated on this site as well as the Facebook Blackwater Rugby Players group.
