Visitors take all three points

Blofield entertained Norwich CEYMS still without the full compliment of players as Mace, Robinson and Calum Cox were all unavailable.

Will Bennett returned and veteran Danny Mckail took his place on the bench alongside Sims and May.

Blofield Starting XI: Ian Stones, Ryan Frankland, Darren Critchlow, Andrew Fulcher, Adam Bellingham, Alain Medina, Ben Morgan, Will Bennett, Robbie Fryers, Shaun Dunthorne, Aaron Hooper

CEYMS Starting XI: Cooke, Stanton, Smith, Tayler, Adcock, Stenner, Wiley, Baxter, Delaney, Smith, Easter; Subs: Lambert, Cottingham, Speck

CEYMS were the first to show and a early cross from Delaney just evaded Smith in the early penalty area.

Darren Smith’s “cross” was then tipped over by Stones as the visitors made all the early running.

Morgan was then robbed off the ball in the centre circle, this leading to Delaney who fired over from distance.

Finally, the away team pressure told as Bellingham’s tackle felled Baxter in the penalty area. A clear penalty and Jack Smith stepped up to put the visitors into a deserved lead.

Little was seen of Blofield in the attacking third and although CEYMS had most of the play, there was little goal mouth action to note. Darren Smith’s long - range effort which narrowly went past the post was the only noteworthy remaining action as the half ended.

The second half started with Blofield having their first shot of the game as Fryer’s long-range effort went wide.

A few minutes later CEYMS were appealing for another penalty as Darren Smith went tumbling in the area under Medina’s strong challenge. The ref waved the appeals away indicating though, the ball had been touched first.

Shortly after that, it was 2-0 to the visitors though as a cross from the left was met by Stenner whose header nestled into the Blofield net.

CEYMS continued their control of the game and almost made it three as Darren Smith weaved past two defender’s challenges and saw his shot cannon off the outside of the post.

Stones then came to the rescue again, though he seemed to not know much about it as Stenner’s first time shot cannoned off the keeper’s knee and was scrambled away to safety.

With all three Blofield Substitutes on, Mckail, May & Sims on for Bellingham, Dunthorne and Hooper, the home side almost snatched a goal back out of the blue. Mckail’s deep cross, landed at the feet of Fryers. Both him and May, tried to force the ball over the goal line but somehow could not force their efforts beyond Cooke.

As the game entered the final few minutes, still CEYMS looked the more likely and the lively Speck, who had come on for CEYMS, saw his effort just go wide.

After a lengthy stoppage for the injured Bennett, Blofield grabbed a consolation in injury time. The initial header from a Morgan cross seem to come off Fryers. The Referee however gave a corner and from Morgan’s delivery, Medina forced the ball home to make the final score 2-1 to CEYMS.

This was a disappointing display from the Beaver’s who never really got going on the day. Too many players had off days though I thought Fulcher & Critchlow both had decent games at the heart of the defence and look like forming a good partnership.

Meanwhile, the visitors look an accomplished outfit and their pace caused problems throughout the game for the home side. On this display, they should be there or thereabouts at the end of the season.

Attention now turns to the Mummery Cup this weekend with the visit of the UEA, kick off 2pm.
