Juniors spirit wins the day!

Extra Time win !

On a blustery day at Cae Cob Pentraeth Reserves visited in the Car Boot Trophy.Both teams had to master a strong cross field wind. On 2 minutes Williams for Pentraeth fired wide but on 4 minutes Allaway fired just wide for the Juniors. On 6minutes Rees picked up the ball outside the Pentraeth penalty area and went on a meandering dribble before firing a great shot into the corner of the net. The Juniors then had a period of pressure and saw Connolly fire wide twice and Gerwyn Williams struck a fierce drive just over the bar. Then Pentraeth had a spell of attacking and Halton fired wide on24 minutes. However the Juniors continued to press for a second with Allaway and Connolly going close. On 40 minutes the Juniors went down to ten men after a midfield skirmish . Pentraeth gained the initiative and on 44 minutes from a right wing break and cross Halton nodded home. Half Time 1v1. The Juniors opened the second half on the front foot and Hughes on 47 minutes fired wide however on 49 minutes Allaway picked up the ball from outside the penalty area and shot goalwards the ball beating keeper Williams and nestling in the net. Pentraeth then attacked against the ten men and on 60 minutes Kenny Williams picked up the ball and ran goalwards and fired well past Roberts in the Juniors goal . On 62 minutes Alston for Pentraeth drove his shot wide and Halton fired over on 65 minutes. The Juniors gained confidence as the game ebbed and flowed and Rees for the Juniors fired just wide. On 80 minutes Hughes for the Juniors saw his free kick saved by the Pentraeth keeper, likewise Gardiner for Pentraeth saw Roberts save well on 84 minutes. Full Time 2v2. Extra time saw the match follow the same pattern as the match with both teams attacking and the game flowing from end to end. The Juniors attacked first and on 94 minutes Owen cut in from the left and passed to Allaway who slotted home. Both teams strove manfully to score but couldn't as both teams went into the second half of extra time the Juniors pressed and Rees crossed from the right for Leo Owen to tap in on 108 minutes. Pentraeth kept attacking but the Juniors ten men defended well. On 115 minutes Jones for Pentraeth fired his free kick over the bar but it was the Juniors who gained the win. For Pentraeth Lewis Davies prompted well but Jones the captain starred. For the Juniors the whole team gave 100% with
Rees and Owen prompting in midfield but Allaway gained the man of the match as he battled up front to score.
