Rocks Drop To 12th
Two first half goals from Bostik League Premier champions Dorking was enough to beat Bognor with Luke Moore and Elliot Buchanan netting.
Jason Prior, Sami El-Abd and David Ray were all featured in the Dorking Wanderers side at Meadowbank as the champions welcomed the Rocks on a bright and warm afternoon.
Jimmy Wild was on the bench for Bognor after scoring two goals in the past two games.
A short corner was released to Tom Richards who spun in the cross to Prior but his header was deflected into the hands of Dan Lincoln.
Luke Moore scored for Dorking though on 3 minutes when a square pass from Prior found him in space outside the box and he hit it low and hard beyond an outstretched Lincoln.
Ashton Leigh was twisting and turning before he eventually got a cross in from the left but it was well gathered off the floor by Slavomir Huk.
Tom Richards was stopped in his tracks with a brave sliding challenge by Chad Field before a cross from the right picked out Prior who headed it straight at the goalkeeper.
Doug Tuck found Harvey Whyte on the right but he scuffed his cross on the bounce out of touch for a goal kick.
James McShane's freekick was headed out again by the Rocks defence. This came before Richards placed a cross to the back post for Prior but he headed it wide of the left post on 11 minutes.
Niall McManus' forward pass to Moore broke down as he was caught offside on 14 minutes as the hosts were creating more chances in the early stages.
Patient build up play saw Samuel Beard find Matt Briggs but his cross was well stopped by Lincoln.
Elliott Buchanan forced through the Rocks defence but after beating Field his low ball into the box was hacked away by Tomlinson before Briggs smacked another chance just over the bar on 18 minutes.
Reece Myles-Meekums was pushed to the ground. Mason Walsh curled the freekick in but it was easily gathered by Huk.
But Bognor conceded again on 23 minutes. Buchanan made his way through following good work from Richards and Beard to tuck the ball beyond Lincoln with Field and Tuck failing to get the ball clear.
Tuck sprung on the counter to chip the ball over to Myles-Meekums but he went to ground under pressure from Beard and the following corner was played short and cleared.
McShane played a swift pass into Briggs but he ran out of pitch before passing it across the goal.
Ed Sanders went into the book on 33 minutes. This was for a late sliding challenge as Dorking hit Bognor on the attack.
Walsh tripped over the ball when Tuck had stubbed the ball his way deep inside the Dorking box. Huk had pushed it out to the winger but instead of striking it he fell to ground on 37 minutes.
The best chance of the half for Bognor.
Richards cut the ball back to Buchanan who hit it first time but straight at Lincoln at the near post.
McShane received the ball from a Prior cross and eventually shot over the crossbar. Then Myles-Meekums replied when he hit it wide following a counter attack.
Lethbridge fell to ground and received treatment. There was a lengthy stoppage of play as the stretcher was called and Wild replaced him on 45 minutes.
Lethbridge looked to have a hip or lower back injury just to add to Bognor’s current growing list of side-lined players.
McShane’s corner was curled deep into the box but Prior, rising highest, nodded his header off the top of the bar and out.
McShane found Richards on the overlap before he crossed it into the Bognor area but Lincoln did well to save it at his near post.
Tomlinson fed Wild in and he won a corner. Walsh curled it in and Sanders was in there for the header but Huk did enough to gather it before receiving treatment for a knock to the face.
A one-two move saw Briggs combine with Moore but instead of getting a shot on goal he knocked it wide when he should have done better for the hosts.
Buchanan and Briggs combined before the latter hit it low and wide of the left post on 57 minutes.
A long and floated pass into the Dorking box saw Wild rise highest but his header flew wide on 58 minutes.
Then Beard hit a deflected cross into the Bognor area but Lincoln saved it.
Wild won a freekick to the left of the penalty area. The freekick by Walsh was poor and bounced out of the reach of Wild and Whyte on the back post.
Briggs drove a cross in from the right. But Lincoln was able to punch it clear when get got there with Prior in pursuit.
Rocks failed to shepherd the ball out and Leigh's defensive header bounced straight onto the boot of Buchanan who belted it high and wide.
Leigh was replaced by Joshua McCormick on 68 minutes. This came shortly after Wild had prodded it wide of the right post after good work from Tuck to set him up.
Prior went into the book on 72 minutes after his studs were up in a challenge on Richard Gilot.
Bognor worked hard to play it forward and Walsh did well to set up Tomlinson who hit it first time and he forced the first stop from Huk in the game on 74 minutes.
Wild flicked on the long ball forward and it was Myles-Meekums who got to it before the byline before cutting inside the area.
In the end the forward lost the ball and even went into the book as he tried to win it back, instead conceding a freekick.
A tired looking Tuck was replaced by Tommy Scutt. A freekick won by Myles-Meekums just before saw Walsh curl the chance straight at Huk.
Then Briggs stubbed the ball wide with a deflected shot wide and won a corner. Then Lincoln had to punch Buchanan's corner with his right hand.
Moore then drove another cross into the area and Lincoln did enough to put Prior off with his header.
Myles-Meekums was tripped on the left flank with Briggs going into the book.
Bognor had to defend straight from a Tomlinson freekick with sub Tom Tolfrey making his way by running at the defence and he hit it low and straight at Lincoln on 88 minutes.
Huk was again the saviour pushing Walsh's strike at goal around the post on 89 minutes with one hand.
And it was good play on the right by Whyte who found Myles-Meekums and after turning and shooting he crashed his effort of the crossbar.
Moore went into book before Walsh's long range effort from the freekick but Huk gathered it.
Bognor now have to regroup for the Sussex Derby at home to Whitehawk on Easter Monday, kick off 3pm.
