Due to the current ‘Covid’ restrictions the club has delayed holding our annual AGM.

Due to the current ‘Covid’ restrictions the club has delayed holding our annual AGM. However, the club’s constitution requires that the AGM is held by 30 September, 2020.
To fulfil this requirement the AGM had been scheduled to take place at 6.00pm on Sunday 27 September at the rugby club. Unfortunately, the most recent restrictions announced by the government last week has now meant that our ability to call such a meeting is now uncertain as the legislation regarding meetings is ambiguous for a sports club such as ourselves. Given this situation and with the health and safety of our members paramount we have investigated our legal position regarding rescheduling the AGM.
To fulfil our legal requirement we are announcing the date for the meeting (Sunday 27th September). Attendance by members is not expected. On that date myself as Secretary and Liam as Chairman will adjourn the meeting to a suitable date after social distancing has been relaxed. In these circumstances the Officers of the club have agreed to remain in place until the matter can be dealt with formally at a reconvened AGM.
Obviously this delay is unfortunate but unavoidable in the current situation. It is an approach that is recommended and is being followed by a large number of other sports clubs in a similar position.
Despite the planned adjournment we felt it important that members are kept fully informed and should have an opportunity to receive and question the papers normally discussed at our AGM. For this reason, I have attached the three key documents:
1. Chairman’s Report
2. Draft Financial Statement for 2019/20
3. Detailed breakdown of the financial statement
If any member has immediate questions relating to these documents please e-mail your question to myself and I shall coordinate a response from our Chairman, Treasurer or any other appropriate officer.
I hope that members will understand the approach your committee are taking in the current uniquely challenging situation.
If you have any concerns or questions relating to the AGM please do not hesitate to contact me.
