Khya returns to the Rose

Bonnyrigg Rose Ladies are delighted to announce the signing of striker Khya McGurk from fellow Championship side Armadale Thistle.

Khya is no stranger to the club having spent five years at Bonnyrigg between 2017 and 2023. Khya first joined the Rose aged 11 from Gala Fairydean Rovers, progressing through our academy going on to score 35 goals in 30 senior appearances for the club.

A spell at Hutchison Vale in the SWF Championship was then followed by a move to Musselburgh Windsor U18s where her goal scoring exploits caught the eye of then SWFL Regional side Armadale Thistle. Khya made the move to West Lothian in January 2024 and despite only being at the club for a few months, she would finish top goal scorer with 22 goals in 14 appearances, helping Armadale to the League title and promotion to Barclays SWF League One where she would come up against her former team.

Last season saw Khya finish top goal scorer once again for Armadale with a hugely impressive 44 goals in all competitions. Her 41 league goals also saw her named the Barclays SWF League One top goal scorer as she helped Armadale secure back to back promotions via the play offs after they finished their league campaign as runners up.

Upon making her return to the club, Khya said “I’m absolutely buzzing to be back home at Bonnyrigg again, stronger and maturer than before”

The striker added “I’m looking forward to being part of the team again and contributing to hopefully another successful season for the club bringing my goal scoring skills to the team”

The Gaffer was delighted to secure the services of Khya saying "We as a club are absolutely delighted to get Khya over the line. It has come a bit out of the blue but I'm really happy to have her back at the club. Her goal scoring record last season was incredible, scoring over 40 goals in a very competitive league and we're hoping she can carry that on into the season ahead.

Jamie went on to say "She gives us different options in the forward area of the park and adds good competition for places up there. I believe she comes back to the club a more mature and stronger player and someone we're really looking forward to working with. Welcome back to the club, Khya"

Welcome home, Khya!
