Could have won but didnt deserve it

Boothtown Terriers missed a chance to keep ahead of their rivals with a lacklustre display against Sharlston. In the first half they struggled to contain the young Rovers team who were prepared to throw the ball about at every opportunity. The Terriers were lucky to be only 12-0 down at half time and were struggling to find their form. However they managed to draw level with 2 tries in the first ten minutes of the second half. First Craig Broadbent raced on to a kick through to score by the post,Graham Charlesworth converted. With forwards Reece Drahosz,Scott Bradley and Mark Sutcliffe on surging runs it was no surprise when prop Addam Berry crashed over and Ben Walsh slotted over the conversion to equalise. Unfortunately some shoddy tackling allowed Sharlston to score a converted try to take the lead. Terriers scored immediately through Scott Bradley and Walsh cooly kicked the conversion. Sharlston took the lead with a penalty but the Terriers thought they had won when Charlesworth picked up a slipped pass from Broadbent to dive over the line, unfortunately the referee called a knock on and the game was lost.
They could have won but overall they were second best. Hopefully they can put this display behind them as they face Stainland next saturday in the Halifax Top Four Championship semi-final .
