Vics grind out away victory

Vics arrived at Radford on the back of a good away performance and result against St Andrews 7 days ago knowing they would be in for a tough afternoon

The Vics had a late enforced change with Jamie Pawley's car breaking down on way to game. Ryan Baker came in along with David Hind for Isaac Minott and Anthony Tansley coming in for Jake Dodds who both dropped to the bench. Vics also changed formation going 4-3-3.

On a poor playing surface, The Vics controlled the first 30mins of the game without really threatening the Radford goal. When they did get in to the Radford box a lack of quality in the final third or a pass let Vics down. The closest Vics came to scoring in the first half came from David Hind, he got in to the box and clipped the top of the bar. As the half went on Radford FC came more in to the game and created a couple of half chances, but failed to ever really threaten the Vics goal.

Half Time - Radford 0-0 Vics

The second half started with Vics pressure and they forced 2 early corners with the second one leading to a goal for Marc Finlay who headed in from 2 yards out after Thom Kellogg won the first header from a David Hind corner on 49 mins. Radford should have equalised when a pull back was missed by an on coming Radford player, hitting the outside of the post. Vics then took control of the game again with David Hind coming closest; twice going clean through and also hitting the bar from a free kick. David Hind did get a goal on 78 mins running through the Radford defence and side footing home from 12 yards. Vics made a triple substitution with Ruston, Minott and Dodds coming on for Baker, Hind and Finlay and this seemed to kick Vics on with fresh legs up top against a tiring Radford defence. Dodds, Minott and Ruston caused problems and Minott got his goal after 80 mins scoring from close range after good work from Kane Jellyman. Radford created 2 more chances that couldn't be converted before the final goal came in the 90 min from Callum Thompson who ghosted in to box to slot home from 8 yards. That was the final action and Vics left Selhurst Street happy with a hard earned 3 points and another clean sheet.
