Even more NLD success for Boston RFC Ladies

Boston Rugby Club is proud to announce that Tash Champion, Boston Ladies vice-Captain, received a late call up to represent the Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and Lincolnshire combined Women’s County squad for the forthcoming Representative County season. Having played in the victory last weekend, she found herself in the starting line-up for the County Division 3 Final held at Richmond Rugby Club in London, this weekend.

Tash, the fourth Senior Boston Ladies player to be selected for the Ladies squad, has excelled in Boston’s powerful front row, operating all season as the go to Hooker. In the loose, Tash offers speed and versatility operating in the same manner as a back row player. Throwing to the lineout she has been consistently accurate all season long, winning about 95% possession in Boston’s dynamic line out.

Boston Ladies coaches Ant Buckberry, Tom Balderstone, Steph Beard and Shaun Turl are extremely proud of their player success, saying ‘Tash is thoroughly deserving of selection, having worked so hard this season both in games, but more importantly in training where she has matured into an extremely well-balanced rugby player. Tash is the squad’s consciousness and is never afraid to make hard choices and speak her mind, which is both refreshing and inciteful. She is always her own worse critic, and pushes herself constantly, aiming to improve.

Tash is one of those Ladies who gives her all, she not only inspires the youngsters coming through, but also has a hand in their development, directly. She is hoping to begin coaching over the course of the year, which will provide the younger girls a phenomenal mentor over the coming seasons. We all wish her all the luck in the world in this weekend’s final’

Boston Ladies outgoing Captain, Hannah Booth added her congratulations, ‘I am so pleased for Tash, for years she has been one of the Squad’s, unsung heroes. With this selection and her internal Forward of the Year award just shows how much Tash has impressed everyone over the course of the Season. I am so proud to play with her and wish her only the best when she runs out against Cornwall this weekend.

Four Senior Ladies, two Under 18s and an Under 15 all selected for County honours perfectly illustrates how far we have developed as a Ladies & Junior Girls Sections, particularly this season. We have been able to showcase some great players, two of whom have signed their first professional contracts, we have developed each week as a squad, have played our first two Ladies Development Games and this late selection has just put the icing on a great season for us all. For any Ladies or Girls out there please get involved, for all the success this season, the fun element always remains at the core of all we do, the Ladies are regularly together socialising and planning events and days/nights out. It is truly a fantastic club with fabulous people.’
