On a lovely October morning BRFC Colts travelled to Spalding's old ground to play a friendly after both clubs league games had been cancelled.
With both teams light on numbers the game started as 12 a-side with Spalding having a very forward heavy team.
The game started a little erratically and possession passed backwards and forwards between the teams with Spalding scoring first. Scoring went forwards and backwards between the teams but overall Spalding made good use of their forward dominance and out scored Boston through managing some good, tight, multiple phase attacks on the Boston line which got them over for a few scores.
Boston played with endeavor and had their moments but missed out on a couple of occasions which would have kept things tighter than the final 47-29 score line suggests.
The game was played well in the right way with both teams showing strong rugby values. These core values were exemplified by the Boston U16s lads who travelled away to support the Colts group. Some of these lads went fully above and beyond, traversing public transport between the towns so that they could do their bit and support their teammates and mates. On a day where the scoreboard result went against BRFC, the true spirit of community rugby showed itself to be alive and thriving within BRFC.
With a blank weekend ahead, BRFC Colts next challenge is a league game against Notts Corsairs at home on the weekend of 5th November.
