A good result from a tough match

After a much improved performance midweek, Boston came into this game looking to carry on some of their good play.

A strong start into the wind saw Boston take the early lead with some strong running from fullback Jack Bowser.

Wisbech however came straight back into the game with a good try from their own number 15, and the pattern of the first half was set. Boston with strong running from Elliot Brooks(13) and Jack Bowser made good ground, with Wisbech coming straight back at them, using the power of their forwards and a dominant scrum to good effect, with only some last ditch defending from Boston keeping the scores even for much of the first half.

Boston's handling and ball movement continued to be good with Bradley Fyfe (12) showing some nice touches and moving the ball under pressure to release Brooks and Riley English (11) down the left side. Wisbech continued their pressure at scrum time and with some powerful driving play from their forward pack, they were denied a third try only by some strong try line defence from the home team.

This pressure was relieved by 2 tries from Joshua Moore (8), one seizing on a loose ball and the other a barrelling run showing some speed and good strength to cross twice in quick succession.

The second half saw much the same pattern repeat itself, with Wisbech playing well into the wind, keeping the ball for multiple phases and testing the defence to the full. Fly Half Lewis Booth repeatedly stepping up to put his body on the line against some of Wisbech's bigger men.

Some good forward play with Alfie Phoenix (1) and Charlie Dawson (3) running well and good ball retention and handling saw Boston cross twice more on the left hand side.

Wisbech then started a run of dominance up front, with strong driving runs from a heavy pack and good distribution from their captain and fly half, piling the pressure on Boston who tried to relieve the pressure with the boot only for Wisbech to run it back and re-establish themselves in the Boston 22, before a great movement of the ball out to the short side, saw Wisbech cross from short range for their third try and the last of the game.

The game finished 39-15 in what was a hard fought and close contest, with strong play from both teams.
