Grove, who is 31 and a Midlands based player, had spells at Moseley and more recently Coventry.
“Alex signing for us is a major statement of the clubs intent” said club MD Phil Maynard. “He will add valuable experience to our young side and will be a major contributor to the club going forward”.
Grove played 153 games for the Warriors and is known for his solid defence and all round rugby ability. He played age group International rugby from under 18 before gaining his first of 3 caps for Scotland in 2009/10 season.
“I am looking forward to the challenge” said Grove. “The new facility at Avery Fields is fantastic. I was looking to further my coaching career so I had a chat with Phil who I have known since the Birmingham & Solihull days. Phil is refreshingly laid back and he mentioned that there was a group of top lads at the club that are keen to build on the last few years. It was an easy decision for me from then on”.
The facility at Avery Fields is to be officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham Councillor Yvonne Mosquito this Saturday before the final league game against Syston.
Club chairman Mick Palmer said “We have come a long way over the past few years. We now have an excellent facility that can only enhance the playing of sport in the area. Signing Alex to our ranks is not only a statement of intent on the playing front, it is an opportunity to enhance our mini junior section and wider community program in the future”.
