Bournville 3rds went into this away match missing a number of key players this week but non the less and keeping in line with the bournville 3rd team ethos of never say die and work for each other bournville travelled the 40+ miles south west to a Ledbury side who's only loss has come to bridgenorth 2nds, a team that beat bounville 94-0 in pre season.
Bounville started well gaining a lot of territory in the opening 10 minutes. Bounville seemed to have put difficulties in the ruck to rest and were very unlucky not to get over the line during this good period. Sadly this was the closest bounville came to scoring. Ledbury at this point opened up the flood gates and scored 3 consecutive tries in close consession. After this Ledbury continued to cross the line with well drilled lines, but credit to bounville they stood strong, forcing Ledbury to score by going wide, and not letting them come through the centre.
Bournville worked hard as a team and continued to keep there heads high despite the barrage of tries scored by Ledbury. New players stepping up into the senior squad did the badge proud putting in big hits and battling for every ball. Full back Fred Aston continued to stake a claim to the position by making no less than 5 try scoring tackles, and making some strong penetrating runs. Speedster Ethan Brown showed some good defensive skill in putting in a good shift on the wing, doing very well to make Ledbury work for every inch down the right wing, and finally Sam Aporta really showed a master class in tackling so much so that he could barely stand by the end of the game, due to giving everything he had.
Overall a very disappointing result today due to the massive improvement to the 3rd team. Captain Jason Hammond could not have asked for any more and was proud of the level of commitment and work ethic throughout the team.
Up next .......Bridgenorth at home, COME ON BOYS LETS GET SOME PAYBACK!!!!!
