A View From The Side
Okay so the Gremlins got to the first report attempt and I notice that there is a bottle of vino in my kitchen with my name on it, so this will be brief.
An early start resulted in lots of light for me and my trusty Nikon. This mini report isn't a detailed description of the game but merely an introduction to the photos. I was reliably informed that this was a genuine Bournville 3's team and with that in mind it's great news for the club. Without doubt that was one of the best team displays I have seen for a long time. The final try for Bournville was a stunner. I think everyone in the team was involved in a move that started in the middle of the pitch. Some great passing resulted in a score in the corner.
Birmingham Barbarians gave a good account of themselves in the 2nd half and forced Bournville back into their 22. The score could have been closer if they hadn't spilled the ball at the important moments. This wasn't an uncontested turn up and win result.
As I mentioned in my 'lost' report earlier, if asked to select a 'man of the match' it would have been the last minute replacement ref who kept the game moving at a good pace.
My favourite photo is the one showing the helicopter taking off just behind the game. I kept the focus on the helicopter. How times change. I can remember being turned out from Harborne Fire Station at all times of the morning for helicopter landings at Metchley Lane. It was either a patient or spare part delivery by private heli or a Sea King. Now they seem to land and take off at will.
Take a goosey goosey HERE for a few photos (a few more than last time) of the match.
