U11 Stags just edge league title, while U13 Stags win yet another thriller to cement 2nd place

As the junior league season draws to a close, there were some cracking games this week.

- The U11 Stags who were 100% for the season suffered an uncharacteristic collapse at Littlewick Green, only Junior and in-form Isaac nursing the team to 79 off their 20 overs, quite impressive given we were 12/6 early on.

We needed to take 8 wickets in the second innings to secure the bonus points for the league, and at 68/4, it didn't look good, but a brilliant run out from Aahan, and two in two for Liam Kyte got LGCC 8 down and a strange situation as both teams celebrated the winning runs.

A much stronger performance will be needed for the Berkshire semi finals!

- The U13 Stags (pictured) put in an exceptional team performance to beat Emmbrook by one run.

We batted first, Adam (20) and Mesum (31*) getting the team off to a great start, with Aum (22) keeping the scoreboard moving. The match-winning contribution today came from Hasan, hitting 32 off 27 to set a challenging target of 134. It's so good to see the lads getting the reward for the work they have put in in the nets.

With the ball, the boys were good across the team, but in the field they were they best they have been, encouraging each other, taking every catch, securing run outs and putting their bodies on the line for every single run.

With one lad crashing 30 off about 20 balls, Emmbrook were favourites but a deadly spell from Noah (2-10) kept us in with a sniff, thanks in part to a fine diving catch from Joshan. The 19th over was taken by Mesum and he was brilliant, Emmbrook suffering two run outs in a bid to steal runs and/or get their big gun back in. Emmbrook needed 8 off the last. Rohan (2-15) put himself on and bowled a typically tight death over, and despite some last ball mankad drama, the boys got another run out to seal an incredible victory by one run.

4 of the boys' last five games have come down to the last couple of balls, underlining the importance of every single run in the game. Thankfully we came out on the right side of this one, and go second in the league.
