So Saturday see the mighty Rockettes travel to Sandhurst for Derby day. The girls were ready raring to go. Sandhurst started well, hitting the woodwork on their first shot but the usual rocks of Jade and Maisey were solid! It was our turn to attack and the team work from Lucia, Poppy D and Kacie worked well. Shots from Katie aswell were close. Eva produced some awesome runs on the wing to give them a few scares! Lilly did well chasing and feeding a few good passes. Our girls then were awarded a penalty, but were unlucky to score. We had plenty of chances and could of been 2-1 up at half time, the bravery shown of our girls held them out until half time. With emotions running high we regrouped and on came Libby and Elisha. Libby had the job of girl marking the 5ft + opposing player who was their threat. Libby chased and followed like a shadow until the 3rd 1/4. Job done. Elisha then made her entrance, while fully making herself known to the defense. Her strong darting runs and powerful balance held off many flying challenges. Sandhurst were rattled and needed 2 players now to deal with Elisha. Eva continued to be a threat and created a great chance for Elisha who put it just wide. Attack after attack, but we were just soo unlucky. A fast counter attack see Sandhurst narrowly pinch a goal. A strong performance off Livvy O with darting runs and tackles finished off this highly emotional and courageous battle.
Everyone was outstanding and put in 110%. The score didn’t reflect the display of our team! Myself and Phil couldn’t of asked for more.
One player who rose to the occasion also was out GOTM Eva Hayward! Well done Eva, showed your enthusiasm and emotional power to rise above and give it your all!!! Amazing!
